Pongo — Proof That Love Has Four Paws

Ah, Pongo.

The lovable patriarch of 101 Dalmatian fame — and, more importantly, the beloved companion of Emile and Brian. At 14 years old — nearly a dog-year centaurian — this old boy carries the kind of quiet wisdom and love that only comes from a lifetime spent right beside his people.

Sure, he’s had some health struggles lately — Age will do that. His steps might be slower now — He was once the leader of his pack — Now he’s secure in his position as the caboose with his family.

But make no mistake — his heart still beats in rhythm with Emile’s. They’ve been through chapters together. Pongo isn’t just a dog; he’s her dog. Her shadow, her comfort, her heartbeat at her feet.

Why Pet Sessions Matter

They just do.

Photographing dogs isn’t about perfect posing or getting them to sit still (though that’s always a small miracle).

It’s about capturing and preserving the bond — that pure, unfiltered connection that exists between a dog and their human. Our lives, as humans, are wonderful mosaic-like stories spanning decades, filled with interesting and unique chapters.

But our pets—those loyal, loving constants— are only meant to share part of the journey. Somehow, someway, that makes their presence even more meaningful.

I still remember Duke — the lovable, scruffy mutt who was part of my childhood long before school started and stayed with me until after I got my driver’s license. He was there through scraped knees, cross-country moves, and everything in between. When he crossed the rainbow bridge, it left a silence that echoed for weeks.

That’s why I believe in photographing pets. Because love like that deserves to be remembered.

Loving Them Well

Dogs enrich our lives in a thousand small ways — the way they steal our spots on the couch, our hearts, and occasionally our snacks. The least we can do is love them right back.

Treat them with dignity. Be patient when they get older. Show them, every single day, that they’re cherished beyond measure.

Because one day, those muddy paw prints fade and their “zoomies” won’t be near as zoomy. But their love never fades. So here’s to Pongo — the goodest of boys.

The heartbeat beside his favorite human. And a reminder of why every photograph — every shared moment — matters so much.
